Trust your instincts

I’m going to bold-as-brass quote fellow romantic adventurer and author of the mighty Eat Pray Love Elizabeth Gilbert to illustrate this point:

“I have a tendency not only to see the best in everyone but to assume that everyone is emotionally capable of reaching his highest potential.

I have fallen in Love more times than I care to count with the highest potential of a man rather than with the man himself, and then I have hung onto the relationship (or the idea of it) waiting for the man to ascend to his own greatness.”

In short: don’t do that. I do it all the time and the emotional fall-out eats into valuable drinking time.
